The produzione della caponata a Modica e provincia by Egla, began more than a decade ago in a well-known restaurant in Modica. At the time owned by the spouses Cicero Emanuele and Rizza Giusy. Being a typical product of Sicilian cuisine, Mrs. Giusy prepared it to serve it to customers who greatly appreciated the delicacy of the dish, complimenting her. After the innumerable appreciations of the customers, the Cicero Rizza spouses realized that the goodness of this product could not remain enclosed in the perimeter of the restaurant., such a good excellence had to be known and tasted by many people.

The raw materials used are strictly Sicilian in fact they are collected a few kilometers from the laboratory between the areas of Scicli, donnalucata, scoglitti and dry tip, areas made famous by the fiction i Inspector Montalbano.
