DESCRIPTION OF THE MANDRAROSSA SNAKECUTTER
The “Cavadiserpe” it is a Sicilian red with a profile solar and Mediterranean, which expresses rich aromas of ripe fruit, spicy and officinal herb nuances of great elegance. Born from a blend of Merlot and Alicante Bouschet, a vine born from the cross between Grenache and Petit Bouschet, and is refined in barrique to acquire the right complexity and expressive harmony. It is one of the most important wines of Mandrarossa, brand of the excellent line of the Sicilian Settesoli winery, which manages a large park of vineyards in the Menfi area, in the province of Agrigento.
Mandrarossa Cavadiserpe is produced with grapes from the Contrada of the same name, which is located in a still uncontaminated and wild context. The intense brightness, the climate hot and dry, but always mitigated by sea breezes and notable temperature variations between day and night, guarantee the best conditions for perfect ripening of red grapes. The vineyards are grown on fine limestone soils, at an altitude of 150-250 meters, with southern exposure and a planting density of 4000-4500 plants per hectare. Fermentation takes place with maceration on the skins for 8-10 days at a controlled temperature of 22-25 °C. The wine matures in barrel per 6 months and concludes the refinement period with 3 months in the bottle.
With the red “Cavadiserpe”, Mandrarossa succeeded, in the not easy task, to create a wine with international grapes with typically territorial characteristics. Even before being a Merlot and an Alicante Bouschet, “Cavadiserpe” is a great Sicilian red, which perfectly reflects the typicality of the splendid terroir of the Agrigento area. In the glass it presents an intense ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose it expresses aromas of ripe red fruit, hints of plum jam, memories of licorice root, spices, noble woods and herbs of the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate it has good structure, with a broad and enveloping sip, harmonious tannic texture, long and persistent finish.
